 e largely alienated from wilderness\, yet fascinated by it\, by wild anima
 ls and wild plants. Many want to learn more about wildlife in the city\, g
 ain understanding\, but also contribute to its protection and preserva-tio
 n. Urban wildernesses are ideal learning places\, where we can learn from 
 and with nature\, and also about how wild urban nature sets up and accompa
 nies the living space created for humans. Urban wilderness is perceived by
  urban dwell-ers and conservationists\, is an opportunity and a challenge 
 and focuses on biodi-versity and experiencing nature. The presentation ans
 wers important current questions about the ecological and socio-cultural a
 rgumentation on urban wil-derness\, its structure\, ecological performance
