 er\, optics\, and high energy physics\, including systems with gain and lo
 ss\, finite density\, and asymmetric dynamics. Analytic study of these sys
 tems is complicated by the relaxation of traditional assumptions for Hermi
 tian systems.  Numerical analysis is complicated by a sign problem\, a gen
 erally NP-hard barrier to Monte Carlo sampling. Fortunately\, the subset o
 f non-Hermitian systems with so-called PT-type symmetries is more tractabl
 e. We show how to overcome sign problems in large classes of PT-symmetric 
 field theories\, providing new insights into the nature and origins of com
 putational complexity. We also show that these systems generally support m
 oat phase behavior. .
