  will first present his past research activities in the fields of modern h
 ardware\, stream processing\, and IoT data management. After that\, he wil
 l outline his research vision of a general-purpose data management system 
 (NebulaStream) that is capable to cope with and exploit recent changes in 
 data characteristics\, workloads\, hardware capabilities\, as well as comp
 uting infrastructures. With NebulaStream\, we envision a platform to enabl
 e researchers and practitioners to develop and test their algorithms and a
 pproaches in the context of future IoT environments. On top of this platfo
 rm\, researchers from different domains like Machine Learning\, Signal Pro
 cessing\, Complex-Event Processing\, or Spatial Processing could implement
  their approaches. One possible direction for future research is to combin
 e different parts of data science\, e.g.\, data analytics\, data mining\, 
 or machine learning\, in one system to maximize sharing potential\, utiliz
 e new optimization potential\, and provide users a unified view among thei
 r data.
