SUMMARY:Seminar: Sustainability in High-Energy Physics -- What we can do! (
 Ben Bruers)
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: \nInstitute of Speaker: \nTopics:\nPhysik\, Willkommen
 \n Location:\n Name: TUD Andreas-Schubert-Bau (E19)\n Street: Zellescher
  Weg 19\n City: 01069 Dresden\n Phone: \n Fax: \nDescription: <p>The an
thropogenic emission of greenhouse gases has led to an increase of the ave
rage temperature on planet earth. Yet\, the emissions today are as high as
never before. Without large reductions\, the average temperature will con
tinue to increase with potentially drastic consequences for the habitabili
ty of certain parts of the planet. High-energy physics also emits greenhou
se gases and thereby contributes to global warming. The different sources
of greenhouse gas emission of high-energy physics will be presented in the
talk. What we can do to reduce the footprint will be discussed. Finally\,
the talk will close by suggesting new routes on how we may conduct our re
search in a climate-friendly way in the future.</p>
