Description

I will present a unified study of axion and axion-like particle (ALP), combining precision effective field theory methods with flavor probes. Starting from generic ultraviolet completions, we will construct the low-energy effective theory, derive the renormalization-group evolution from high scales to hadronic energies, and obtain robust predictions for flavor-changing neutral current processes such as $B\to Ka$, followed by visible axion prompt and displaced decays into various final states, leading to strong constraints and future sensitivities at Belle II and LHCb. This will be followed by a systematic formulation of axion EFT in the Breitenlohner–Maison–’t Hooft–Veltman (BMHV) scheme, where the non-anticommuting nature of $\gamma_5$ in $d\neq4$ dimensions generates evanescent operators, modifies naive Ward identities, and necessitates finite renormalization to restore the correct four-dimensional Ward Identities. We show how operator mixing, ultraviolet and infrared singularities, and effective-theory matching can be treated consistently up to two-loop order, providing a transparent framework for precision calculations in axion EFT. Finally, we will conclude with some ongoing directions pertaining to the computation of $B\to Ka$ form factors in the framework of Soft Collinear Effective Field Theories.
